Recitals

Nearly every week in Full Term, ECMS hosts a Recital in the College's beautiful Old Library, or occasionally in the equally beautiful Wren Chapel. Held at 9 PM, these recitals feature some of the University's (and often further afield) finest soloists and small ensembles. Around 40 minutes long, they are the perfect way to relax and catch up with friends.

One week of Michaelmas and Lent Terms are reserved for our Freshers' Concert (Michaelmas). This is an informal variety concert that features a wide cross-section of Emma's musical talent, including jazz standards, operatic arias, Liszt études, and Gypsy dances. Ukuleles and harpsichords may appear. If you're an incoming Fresher and would like to perform a 5-minute item in the Michaelmas concert on October 8th 2017, please contact the Recitals Rep beforehand. We would love to hear you, and a friendly, enthusiastic audience is guaranteed!

If you are preparing a recital for an advanced examination (for example, you are reading Music for your degree), you will be guaranteed a recital date in the Series. Composers in College are warmly encouraged to submit pieces to the Recitals Rep for inclusion in the Series. ECMS can provide assistance in finding performers, and perhaps also to workshop your compositions prior to performance. For undergraduates reading Music, this can contribute to your Composition Portfolio.

Tickets are available at the door for £2, and include a complimentary glass of wine or fruit juice. Check out our What's On page for more details.
